Protect the Beer

Posted by

I came across this article this morning: https://www.bizpacreview.com/2023/08/21/good-guy-with-a-gun-shoots-michigan-robber-while-toting-a-six-pack-charges-uncertain-1388685/

I’m not going to comment on whether that’s a justified shooting as there just isn’t enough information in the video to tell what is going on. My gut says it is, but that’s not the point of my post.

Years ago I was in an IDPA scenario where the shooter is standing in front of what is supposed to be an ATM, holding a bag of groceries in their off hand. At the beep you’re supposed to turn/draw and engage two targets that are set up to your side and slightly behind. Yes, it was set up safely.

The men all dropped the groceries and turned and fired. The women all set the groceries down carefully, then turned and fired. It was hilarious once I noticed what was going on.

The video above shows us the proper hierarchy for men. Drop the groceries, but protect the beer.
